It's those moments in the sun, relaxed and recumbent, that makes life worthwhile and takes away the stress of the day-to-day. A teak chaise lounge, poolside or under the shade of your favorite tree, can offer you the perfect place for those time-out moments. Transform your house and give it that exotic holiday feel with a teak chaise lounge that will allow you exceptional comfort, without the jet lag. With a fully adjustable back rest that allows you to recline at any angle, you'll be soaking up the sun and reading your favorite book in no time. With the added comfort of an adjustable knee section you can be putting your feet up and feeling the pressures of the day drain away before you finish the next chapter.
Originally, the frames for the very first chaise lounge chairs used in drawing rooms was made from wood. Variations on the indoor chairs also brought about a mobile chaise lounge made from metal used by the French army. This seat was portable and could be folded and unfolded. Today, most indoor chaise lounge frames are still made from wood, some of which is ornately carved. While there also exist chaise loungers with metal frames, they are not nearly as portable or foldable as were their predecessors. For indoor use, it is assumed that the chair will not be moved around very often, so weight and ease of movement are not of chief priority.
Patio Furniture Chaise Lounge is something you may see on a deck or front porch. A chaise lounge has been a part of the history of furniture for a very long time. This is a chair with a back that allows one to go into a semi reclining position. It is long, like a bed, so that the feet can be put up but the back can be set to sit up or to recline as well. Cleopatra was known to lounge on a chaise lounge. In Roman times it was thought that the body digested food better when one was reclining to eat so they used an old version of a chaise lounge.
They were traditionally made of wood but today are made in wrought iron, aluminum and plastic as well. These materials are especially popular for outdoor use as they can resist the elements. Wood is still a popular material especially teak, wicker and rattan. Teak is the most handsome of woods with its dark sheen while wicker has a nostalgic colonial appeal. Wooden loungers are perfect from both indoor and outdoor use.
