A chaise lounge or to give it its proper French name "chaise longue" is the ideal piece of furniture for either your patio, deck, pool area or more likely an indoor setting like the bedroom or sitting room. A fully upholstered lounger is a very plush and comfortable item of furniture adding that touch of royalty to your bedroom. Outdoor loungers are usually not so heavily upholstered because of their setting but with some cushioning can be just as comfortable as their indoor counter-parts.
This French inspired romantic piece of fine furniture adds a feeling of warmth to a sitting room and can be dressed up with just a few small scatter cushions. One thing that seems to surprise a lot of people is that today's chaise lounge has such a wide range from which to choose from. The first image that comes to mind for most people is something that's all white and tinged with gold edging, whilst this style is still available and would fit in comfortably with a formal living room; the modern and contemporary designs with their clean looking sleek designs are proving to be very popular. They come with a complete line of fabrics to choose from that will add a modern feel to a very classic design. The chaise lounge should actually come with a warning; whilst most people will buy one for their good looks and classy appearance they will tend to make you spend a lot more time lounging than actually doing boring housework.
They are durable, relatively inexpensive, and are often molded to resemble more expensive and traditional materials like wood and concrete. Though more fragile, wicker is a popular choice but is not meant to be left completely outdoors and unprotected from the elements. Keeping your wicker chaise lounge beneath a covered porch or deck will keep it away from rain and too much direct sunlight. For inside the frame, cushion supports like the strap and the sling are often employed. These are strong and usually made from a waterproof nylon or plastic. As far as innovations, the zero gravity chair is built for maximum comfort and so its user can more fully relax without putting any extra pressure onto any part of the body, especially the seat.
These days these chairs come in all sizes and shapes, from modern designs that echo the work of the great masters of the Modernist movement to soft, supple loungers that will relax you as you rock back and forth in flawless fashion, thanks to the inclusion of a glider mechanism. The good news is that there is no right or wrong in choosing the right chair, as long as you follow a few basic recommendations. Obviously, you want to put comfort above anything else. The idea of a lounge chair is to relax and recharge - being uncomfortable in the name of fashion or saving a couple bucks will only cause you to wonder why you even thought of buying these chairs for your home or outdoor entertainment space.
