The result resembles a sort of daybed, one with a headrest at one end and can have a backrest or be backless. In translation, the French word actually just means a "long chair" and so in the language the chaise lounge can refer to any number of indoor and outdoor reclining seats and deckchairs. In practice, the chaise lounge can seat two to three people sitting upright, or one person can lie comfortably with her feet suspended above the ground. As per design, these chairs can be simply adorned or famously done up with tufted cushions, ornate carvings and svelte fabrics. Antique version tend to be fancier affairs than contemporary chaise lounges, especially as today's models include sun loungers and other stripped down outdoor furniture.

What is immediately striking about a chaise end sofa is its image. Once you enter a room it makes a bold statement about your personal style and taste. This isn't to say that they're garish and only for the ultra trendy, it simply means that they catch your attention. So if you're looking for a focal point for your living area, then a chaise end might well be a good choice.
Traditional, these aren't your parent's outdoor loungers. They're more stylish and high tech, but are still suitable for your backyard, beachside lounging, or camping. Enjoy your choice of reclining positions in these recliners that are extra durable, and some even have flexible materials that help release tension in your back.
They were traditionally made of wood but today are made in wrought iron, aluminum and plastic as well. These materials are especially popular for outdoor use as they can resist the elements. Wood is still a popular material especially teak, wicker and rattan. Teak is the most handsome of woods with its dark sheen while wicker has a nostalgic colonial appeal. Wooden loungers are perfect from both indoor and outdoor use.
